Quilter’s Heaven, Northbrook, IL
I work at the school district in Glencoe, IL and am fortunate that I am able to drive the nearly 90 miles a day in off-hours so I beat the annoyances of traffic in each direction. I rarely spend much time in the towns or villages around the school district, but today I stopped in a local quilt store in Northbrook named Quilter’s Heaven. You can find its website here if you are interested in finding out more about this shop.
The shop is located the a busy corner of Dundee Road and Waukegan Road. From the direction I approached the shop you cannot turn into their shared parking area, so I had to go around the block. Once I figured that out, it was fairly easy to park and enter the store. It is a smallish shop, but it offered quite a few services. It appeared to me that they were offering a sewing machine class to two customers near the back of the store. They had a few quilt and clothing models up throughout the store. They also offered a selection of notions, patterns, and fabric as well as quite a few kits. Someone came in to pick up a completed quilt, so I deduced that they offer long-arm quilting services.
New Pattern Found
Quilter’s Haven had a quilt model made from the pattern Traffic by Jaybird Quilts. It drew me in and I purchased it to make . . . of course . . . a baby quilt. ~smile~ I looked at the Jaybird Quilts website, and was amused to find the following sentence posted by Julie regarding her inspiration for the design. “This pattern was inspired by being stuck in stop and go traffic while driving on the 5 from San Diego up to Los Angeles!” Having been on the drive between San Diego and L.A. on the 5, I can totally see three endless lines of traffic. Jaybird Quilts nicely lists the various dimensions and materials needed for each quilt – the baby size is 32″ x 42″.
This new pattern will be added to our list to try out . . . soon! I’ll report back when we do. ~smile~
