Regatta Quilt Sew Along – Update #1
How are you doing on the Regatta Quilt sew along? What – are you new here and know not what I speak?? This is a no-pressure sew along with no prizes and no real end date. Just a gorgeous quilt when it is all complete. The original pattern is from Daniela at Block M Quilts. Just click on the picture of the quilt directions in the link and you’ll be able to print out a .pdf. Here are the two colorways that Daniela has chosen for her quilts, and what originally inspired me to make my own:
Below, I’ve shared a few photos that our participants have shared on their blog, Facebook, or Instagram. I apologize if I missed your update – I tried scouting everyone’s website to find them all! Such diversity already – all of these are going to be so pretty! I have been updating the January 1st post with new participants, and will continue to do so (along with update posts). I hope to share everyone’s finishes as they are shared!

Regatta First Few Steps:
The very first step is to pick out your fabrics and/or color palette. You need 19 different colors to mimic Daniela’s pattern, along with a background fabric (like white). For those with their fabrics, the first step on the pattern is to start cutting your strips. Two each of the 19 colors, 2.5″ x WOF (width of fabric).
Secondly, it is time to cut 36 strips of your background fabric, 2.5″ x WOF.
Our Regatta Update:
We have started cutting our fabric. We’re in NO RUSH because there isn’t a deadline or anything! Here is a photo of the strips Sue just cut and the first three colors for section one. They are just pinned – I didn’t even sew them yet because I just didn’t feel like it!
These fabrics are all by Kona . . . I have the names somewhere if anyone wants to know!
Any questions, please leave them in the comments. Be sure to check for updates on the various participants websites, on our Facebook page, or on Instagram using #regattaquilt. If you aren’t able to use one of those methods I will be glad to share any updates for you! Don’t forget to use the hashtag on Instagram to flag your posts or we can’t see your progress! Let’s have some fun making a pretty quilt or two! That’s all for this update. I will check in with you again soon. I don’t want to be a nag when there is a no-pressure timeframe. ~smile~
