Road Trip – Sawdust & Stitches, Elkhorn, Wisconsin
Sue, Carol and I created our own shop hop to tackle one beautiful Saturday. One stop on the shop hop included Sawdust & Stitches in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. It is truly a short hop for us as we made it there in only 40 minutes but that was 80 minutes before they open. HAHA So we hopped back in the car and moved on to the farthest away shop.
Stepping into the shop we were greeted by Sharon, the owner, and this cute baby quilt. I don’t know who Eleanor is but I am certain that she will or does adore this quilt. It has accents from really wide bric a brac trim, which I had never seen before. The do sell it right there in the shop in a variety of colors.
Sawdust & Stitches aisles
Sawdust & Stitches has their fabrics arranged mostly by color, and they offer a great selection in each color family. There are models galore, and the supplies for them are easily and readily available. We also found our ‘next’ big project:
Sorry this photo is a little blurry – you would think I would know to check by now . . . Sharon showed us this embroidery, crayon and quilt project by Crabapple Hill. It is a four part pattern of quilting witches. First you embroider with the stem stitch after using your light box to transfer the pattern onto the fabric. Then you color in all the details, followed by sewing them into a quilt or hanging. This is a HUGE project! Each of the four panels measure 42″ x 15″, and the finished quilt 57″ x 66″. Stay tuned for updates on this once we get it started. It will be darling when complete!
Our timing on this visit was perfect! We missed all the traffic from the Walworth County Fair. I forgot to take a picture of Sharon, darn it. We were chatting so much it threw me off my game. I hope you have a chance to visit this shop. It is a nice shop in a quaint small town, and it’s worth the drive. ~smile~ We’ll be back!
Our Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and share your current project or great find. We would love to see them. ~smile~
Hey Sharon. I miss you. Wondered if you wanted to get together and see something, with masks of course. Let me know.
