Road Trip – The Stitchery, Delavan, Wisconsin
Carol, Sue and I decided to make our own shop hop of sorts. It was nearing the end of the Row by Row Experience 2017. I thought we needed to visit a few more shops before it ended, so we set out for a road trip. The Stitchery in Delavan, Wisconsin was one of our stops.
This was a shop our navigation system had a hard time with, but we persevered and found it ourselves. It was worth it, too! This shop is owned by two sisters, Nancy and Carrie and has been in the family for over 40 years. We just missed Carrie, so we weren’t able to get a picture of the two of them, but here is Nancy:
The Stitchery has a lot to offer quilters and stitchers alike. They advertise that they carry over 2,500 bolts along with cross stitch, needlepoint and crewel kits. I can honestly vouch for the bolts of fabric! I never noticed the other handwork supplies, but I’m sure they exist. Models galore throughout the shop are certainly inspiring:
I just love the colors in the first photo . . . especially the yellow, black and white. And the pumpkin quilt – the centers squares are quilted with a sunflower design. So, so, SO nice. I want.
I was also intrigued by this ironing board table made from a small folding table. We used to call them TV trays (in my day!). Having just upgraded my sewing tables, I find that I really miss all the space to my right. Apparently I used to keep a lot of ‘stuff’ there – important ‘stuff.’ So, while I don’t necessarily need an ironing table on my right – it would be handy. This is filed away in the maybe-someday area of projects to-do.

Here is the very welcoming entry complete with its barn quilt. Doesn’t that look like a place you should visit?! I am sure we will be back sometime sooner than later. ~smile~

Sounds like a fun trip. Let me know if you are ever headed to northern Indiana. I’ll be glad to show you around to my favorite stores. Happy stitching!
Hi Gretchen! I will do that! If they EVER finish the road construction on 94/80 I am ready to head to my favorite casino in New Buffalo, MI. Detours to quilt shops sounds like a wonderful idea! ~smile~ Roseanne
