Runner Aways Club a.k.a. Project #2
We actually do have a list of our current projects – Sue is the keeper of the list. I mentally keep a list in my head, and find that some things get bumped to the top of the lists without my knowledge.
Several of my friends, including Sue, have started a club (three strong at last count) called the Runner Aways Club. I guess you could say I’m an adjunct member of the club, as I’m certainly not an essential part of it. LOL The Club has plans to make a table runner for each month of the year. They decided to start with September, with an apple theme. It is a great choice for them as they all work in an elementary school and just about everyone I know associates an apple with teaching. They have swapping background squares with each other so all three runners will have a slightly similar vein running through them, yet each quilter will bring their own design aesthetic. I will have to share a picture of all three table runners when they are complete. Since they started with the September block and it IS still winter, I didn’t think that would warrant a jump to the top of the list. I was wrong. Yes, you were 🙂 (comment from Sue)
Sue asked me to do some buttonholing to the five leaves to give them detail. I work on this type of handwork on my lunch break, mainly because it is easy to work on it in short stretches yet it really does help accomplish something. The leaf detail interrupted project #4 on my mental list, which is an ABC wall hanging we are making to sell on Etsy. I love making these ABC small quilts because I love the fabrics and I think they are really cute – I have one hanging right in front of my desk – so the interruption was really uninvited. After minimal complaining (ahem), I have completed the five leaves needed for the runner. I have more for you to do, no complaints not even minimally. (another Sue comment!!)
Perhaps we should recap our project list as I know it to be:
- Consignment project – Dr. Seuss baby quilt
- (cutter!) September table runner
- Simply Woven queen size quilt for Betsy
- Simply Woven queen size quilt for Andrea and Chris
- ABC wall hanging (2) for Etsy
- Gray baby quilt – being hand quilted now
- Finding Nemo baby quilt – awaiting quilting
- Green polka dot baby quilt – awaiting quilting
- Many, MANY baby quilts waiting to be started with fabric sitting in project bags
We are also going to be great-aunts again later this year, and that requires (!!) many different assorted projects to be added to the list. Phew, it’s going to be a busy sewing year ahead. Are you ready for the ride . . . because you KNOW I’m going to have to blog about it.
I’ve only got 2 on my project list. One for a July wedding and one for my daughter.
What are you thinking of making for each event? Have the wedding friends asked for a bed quilt or are you thinking of something else? I assume your daughter would like a bed quilt. Who wouldn’t want to sleep under something lovingly made by Mom!! ~smile~
