To-Do #1
For our Elm Street Quilts’ September OMG we are going to quilt and bind I Wish You A Merry!To-Do September 3rd through 9th:
We hope you enjoyed Labor Day in the USA and Canada!- Finish quilting Pixel Heart quilt
- Sew the remaining three blocks in Up From Here
- Complete the next step in Fireburst
Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
Rainy Days is a jelly roll quilt reminiscent of the Spiral quilt we made last year. Only this one is better because the blocks were pieced more carefully (!!), so no bad words were said aloud or even thought. Rows one and two are together. It occurred to me that if I get this together, there will be another flimsy awaiting quilting. I’m allowing this project to pause temporarily for now!To-Do #4
You betcha we celebrated two special birthdays on Saturday. Happy 85th and 1st birthday to our favorite peeps! We are so blessed to have both of you in our lives. ♥♥ A certain young man was tired when we tried to get a picture with GG, so that didn’t quite happen. Darn it! Other pictures coming on Thursday for our weekly likes and loves.September OMG

My plans for the Pixel Heart quilt were to use an orange peel quilting design. Each block finished at 3″ so that seemed a natural choice to me. However, that did not consider the different thicknesses involved because clothing items were used. The idea was aborted after three sides of a block were orange peeled. While very cute, that design was just NOT going to work. Our fallback choice is always straight line quilting on the diagonal, which worked swimmingly well for this quilt. Quilting is well underway but it was raining all weekend so pictures were too dark. Here is a pity photo showing the border and the straight-line stitching.
To-Do #2
Sue and I do not have a learning curve on our respective sewing machines, Lily and Ellie. Well, I should say I don’t anyway. Since I had to unlearn bad habits, a new stippling project was in order. I shouldn’t have through in that little loop as I’ve been told that is a meander instead of a stipple. The quilt police will have grounds for my arrest.

The quilt police are not welcome here! LOL!! I end up with little loops too sometimes. I’m just going with the flow and they pop up every now and then!
I, for one, like loops in my meander/stippling. I think it adds a little bit of the unexpected – a happy little surprise. 🙂 I’ve also been known to do a spiral when I sew myself into a corner. Fun!
Funny how we all live in fear of the quilt police – me included! Just don’t answer the door. And I love stippling anytime. It seems to get a bad rap these days, but it sure does the job.
Whatever Wendy said!!! Wonky is the new normal. QP should be treated like trolls. Have a fun, fabulous and a productive weekend.
Your quilting is looking just fine. Nothing wrong with that stipple at all. Enjoy your busy week.
My thoughts on Quilt Police: They should be tarred with glue and rolled in pins and then made to free motion with NO wine! (or whine). That will teach them! Especially if they fell for the warm cinnamon rolls in the kitchen (Wendy made me laugh at that one!)
Belated Happy Birthday to your favourite peeps!
Tell the quilt police there are warm cinnamon rolls in the kitchen. When they hustle out to the kitchen, shut the door to your quilting room and lock it. Haha — your quilting design is your design. If you want loops, add loops. If you didn’t plan to add loops, but they got in there, it’s a design twist. 🙂 Your to-do list is looking good! Glad the birthday party was a success!
