To-Do Tuesday Edition #13
This is not an unlucky 13th to-do edition, I hope. Were we productive or not:
To-Do Tuesday for the week July 4th – July 10th:
- Continue on Pinwheel Fence Rail quilt – √ one row together
- Make block 1 and 2 for the QAL – √ both blocks complete 🙂
- Finish quilting the tutorial quilt – √ finished and listed
- Make mug rugs and microwave cozies for shower – √ all set
#1
We have been sewing and cutting, sewing and cutting the strip sets for the pinwheel rail fence. One row is complete – 12 blocks wide 7.5″ finished size is plenty for a queen size quilt. We may be going only 14 rows in length. Even for our 6’5″ nephew that should be long enough. Now if I can just keep the pattern straight in my head and sew the blocks and rows correctly. Thank heavens for the design wall! Added bonus, I get a few extra steps in going back and forth to the design wall. ~smile~

I will share our fabric with you on tomorrow in a post, or you may have seen it on our Facebook site! If I haven’t already convinced you try and join in, you can still do that. Wouldn’t it be fun? A lap size quilt for Thanksgiving. You’ll only have to quilt it. You can post each block on our Facebook page. It goes without saying that we would be thrilled to death. Here is Pat Sloan’s website to check out the details. Block #1 and #2 . . . drumroll please . . . TA DA:

GK Block #1 and #2

The tutorial quilt is all quilted in spite of the thread globs, etc. It did prompt me to buy a new sewing machine we named Ellie. Part 5 of the tutorial shares all the details but I do not see why you can’t see the end result here too. Right?! What do you think of this quilting? It was easy once I finally got the first “X” done.

Mug rugs are all quilted and bound. We made 11 of them and 10 microwave cozies. Here they are, but I’ll share more details after the shower:

A stack of cozies – 11 mug rugs
To-Do Tuesday starting July 11th:
- Visit my brother after his surgery
- Take lesson for new sewing machine ~smile~
- Sew block #3 in the QAL
- Work on surprise baby quilt – can’t give details (!!)
- Border and quilt the birth announcement
- Research this quilt request – isn’t this fun:

Please make me a quilt like this!
This just makes me smile – drawn on an envelope, with quite specific animals like black AND brown bears, eagle, deer and wolf. We will have to find some fun fabric – nothing like this is part of our stash for sure. ~smile~
I’ll give you an update on these projects next Tuesday, July 18th.

Wow you have been so busy! Glad the quilting finally worked out, it looks great! Speaking of naming sewing machines, I have an “Ellie” too! Can’t wait to see the pinwheel quilt top all put together, that is going to look amazing! I’d love to join in a quilt along when we get back home from summer, but I am already booked out with orders. I have pretty much decided to stop taking commissions so I can get back to quilting. I miss it! I will have to live vicariously through you until I have some time to make my own quilts again! <3
Hi Christine,
Awww, that is no fun! Well, it is fun and wonderful that you have lots of orders . . . but you need to feed yourself creatively too. I am sure we can find a QAL that starts in the new year to work on together! Pat Sloan is starting one then, and I bet there will be many others. I’ll keep my eyes peeled. ~smile~ Roseanne
Love all your work. The GK blocks are beautiful, I have liked your page and will upload my photo of block 1 a little later. Once I have quilted the quilt I am doing I will be piecing the next couple of blocks. Once I get my walking foot on I get lazy about changing up.I love mug rugs, not that I have made many but would love to do so. Oh my gosh, what a sketch, you’ll be amazing to fulfil that wish/order.
Well, are you the sweetest! I know what you mean about switching the foot on the sewing machine – I sometimes feel that way about the THREAD. Good grief. HAHA We just found out more peeps are coming to the shower – so more mug rugs and cozies are needed. Good thing I’ve got it mastered now – and I learned how to use my new machine. ~smile~ Roseanne
