Join us for the 13th linky party post and the 133rd edition of the weekly to-do list. Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week.
To-Do for the week of October 29th through November 4th:
- Finish the pattern testing quilt top – √ done
- Determine the November OMG project – √ done
- Pick the fabrics for the last beehive block – √ done
- Hexie snowman table topper for
SissyGaga – √ done
To-Do #1
This was our first chance to be a pattern tester for another blogger friend. Becca from Pretty Piney released her pattern just yesterday called Star-Crossed Plaid. We shared our quilt top yesterday and we’re calling it Geo Star Plaid. Sort of a mashup from the pattern name and the fabric we won. We’re both really pleased with how it turned out.
To-Do #2
Yup! We were quite decisive this month with our November OMG project. It was set already on November first with no dithering. We’ll be sewing the Ripples blocks being sewn by our beehive mates into a quilt top. There might even be some quilting accomplished as well if we get to start on it soon. We’re still waiting on blocks from four friends so we don’t have enough blocks yet.
To-Do #3
Quatrefoil is the name of the block that Rachel, the November queen, selected for the beehive to make for her. Rachel chose red, grass green, sunshine yellow, and white as her fabric colors in her two sample blocks. Sue pulled a few fabrics for our two blocks and started cutting. I’ll be sewing them together to get in the mail soon.
Rachel’s sample blocks are on the left; our fabric pull is on the right.
To-Do #4
Our friend, Vicki, from Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting, shared a tutorial for a Hexagon Snowman Table Topper back in July. At the time, I showed the post to Sue and it definitely struck a chord with her. We’ve decided we’re going to make a version of this cute topper for Sue’s sister, Janice. We call her Sissy, and just recently (last week!!) Dominic started calling her Gaga. All of us think this will be a very festive topper for Gaga and we enjoy having a plan in place. ~smile~
November OMG
Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her linky party which opened on November 1st. Our November OMG project is to finish the Ripples blocks that we have requested from our beehive for the month of October into a quilt top. I haven’t received all the blocks yet or I might try to get it all quilted as well.
To-Do for the week of November 5th through 11th
- Finish the Quatrefoil blocks for Rachel
- Color block of the month – yellow
- Start cutting and sewing the hexagon topper fabrics

I love your Star Crossed Plaid!!! I can’t seem to find where Becca released the pattern. I’m interested in seeing all the testers versions. Timely to be working on a Christmas quilt. And love the quatrefoil block!
Love the Geo Plaid top! I can see that in all kinds of color schemes. And the new bee blocks are gorgeous, how fun will they be to make.
Becca’s pattern is so cool but i love your color choices – the pops of bright amidst the greys. I also love the quarterfoil block. Need to try it out sometime.
Love the colors and block style that Rachel chose. Gorgeous!
Roseanne I love everything you are working on this week. Just got my blocks mailed today. I am anxious to see you snowman topper. I’ve been looking for a few topper patterns to make for Christmas.
Pretty patterns!
Hello Roseanne, I just stare and stare at your beautiful at your Geo Star Plaid quilt top that you made using the pattern from Becky. Have you ever had a quilt just grab your attention and you know you want to make it? Did you like being a pattern tester? I hope that your 4 remaining Ripples blocks come in the mail soon. If they do not, are you prepared to make the blocks that do not arrive? I have no clue how these Bee Hive groups work, so I am just being very curious. This next block that has been chosen, Quatrefoil is a new block for me also. I love the fabric color combinations that she has chosen and it is an even more amazing block when you do special fussy cutting. I went and did a bit of looking. LOL Now, I want to make this block also! Plus, I am looking forward to seeing your finished table topper for Gaga. I must go and do more checking on your friends site, she has some fabulous table toppers that made me go wow! Thanks for sharing and motivating me in all sorts of quilting ways today! I just wish that I could finish them as quickly as you. LOL. Have a fabulous day! Waving …..waving….and more waving…
My, you’ve been busy! Nice pieces!
