To-Do Tuesday Linky #14 & Weekly Progress Update
Join us for the 14th linky party post and the 134th edition of the weekly to-do list. Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week and who join in this week.
To-Do for the week of November 5th through 11th:
- Finish the Quatrefoil blocks for Rachel – √ done
- Color block of the month – yellow – √ done
- Start cutting the hexagon topper fabrics – √ done
The quatrefoil block that Rachel selected as her IG Honeybee block of the month is unique. I had never seen or even heard of the block until her selection! It is fairly easy to construct, and our two blocks went together without issue. Here is the layout of one of the blocks. Does anyone else just notice all the stray threads long after they have taken a photo? I wonder why I didn’t notice before . . . anyhoo . . .
Do you see the four-leaf clover in the design? Does it remind you of a Girl Scout cookie called Trefoil? The design has quite a long history and has been used in many designs such as wallpaper, architecture, light fixtures, and even garbage cans. You’ll have to check your surroundings when you’re out and about – I suspect you see them in oodles of places. I will share both blocks in a post tomorrow.
Yellow is the color of the month for November. Jen just recently released the 2019 November Color Challenge block and we got it cut out and finished this last weekend. I shared all the details just yesterday but here is our finished block.
When Vicki, from Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting, shared a tutorial for a Hexagon Snowman Table Topper back in July we decided we’re going to make a version of the cute topper. It’s for Sue’s sister, Janice or more recently Gaga (short for Grandma). This hexagon-shaped topper calls for 60-degree triangles, but we didn’t have a ruler. Instead, I used the 60-degree line on my skinny little ruler and it worked like a charm.
Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her linky party which opened on November 1st. Our November OMG project is to finish the Ripples blocks that we have requested from our beehive for the month of October into a quilt top. I still am waiting for at least six of the eight blocks that haven’t been sent yet by beehive mates. This is a bit disappointing.
