Join us for the 19th linky party post and the 139th edition of the weekly to-do list. Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week.

- Attend the Nursing Pinning Ceremony for Andrea – √ done
- Start cutting the sashing and cornerstone pieces – √ done
- Find some modern fabric for Kansas Star sampler sew-along – √ done
- Wrap up the squirrel project of the hexagon snowman table topper – √ done
Last Tuesday night (10th) it was Chilly with a capital “C”. Brrr. It was a good night to stay home but instead, we went and watched the Nursing Pinning Ceremony for Andrea. Month and months of hard work and studying came to fruition that night, and we are all beyond proud of her. Here her advisor is actually pinning on the nursing pin. ~smile~
Several friends suggested that we sash our December OMG project, and Denise from For the Love of Geese also suggested the addition of cornerstones. It was like a light went off when I read that comment – YES! Sashing with cornerstones taken from the colors of the blocks. Lovely. That’s just one of the plethora of reasons that I love the quilt blogging community in general and the friends that I’ve made specifically. Brilliant Denise and thank you! Sue, a.k.a. The Cutting Department started cutting the cornerstones for our quilt top and here’s a peak of them being placed on the design wall.
I know, it’s a tough job but someone HAD to do it. I raised our hand for a sew-along that starts at the end of January. That required us to find and purchase some modern fabrics even though traditionally the sew-along would call for 1930s reproduction fabrics. The general details about Pieces From the Past Sew-Along can be found in the link with more details coming soon. We need 20 fat quarters and after careful consideration, this bundle fits the bill. It’s called Laurel Burch Basics Prism and I ordered it from Missouri Star Quilt Company.
I rarely give myself FOUR items on my weekly to-do list. Especially at this time of year when other duties take first priority. This little unplanned squirrel project found itself at the top of our list for a variety of reasons. This is a gift for Sue’s sister and we gave it to her on Saturday. Here’s a photo of it in its new home! She loved it and sent Andrea six or seven photos of it. Andrea, who was working, told her she had already seen it in person but she kept getting texts with it in different places. I shared all the details in a post last Friday but here is our Snowman Table Topper. Isn’t it just the best to give someone a gift that they love?!!
**TGIFF Linky Party on Friday, December 20th! Join us for our first TGIFF party.**
Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her linky party which opened on December 1st. Our December OMG project is finishing the quilt top of our monthly color challenge blocks by adding sashing and cornerstones. This has to be finished by Thursday so that we can share it on our TGIFF post!
