To-Do Tuesday Linky #7 & Weekly Progress Update
This is the 128th edition of the weekly to-do list and the seventh post as a linky party here on our website. Thank everyone who joined us last week.
To-Do for the week of September 17th through 23rd:
- Finish quilting Rainbow Ripples – √ done
- Start quilting the pumpkin quilt – √ done
- Finish the Fizzy block – nope
To-Do #1
The Rainbow Ripples quilt top is all quilted and I have started sewing down the binding. It is slow going as I had a headache all weekend and did no sewing. I share this picture last Friday and I truly thought this was an easy wrap but it didn’t quite happen. There’s still one more weekend this month and it seems there are quite a few things that need to get finished! Maybe!
To-Do #2
Somehow, some other quilting happened before the crappy weather and weather-induced-headache set in (I’m blaming the weather whether it’s true or not). I want to thank Vicki from Vick’s Crafts and Quilting for inspiring this quilting design. Thanks to the fabulous photos she shared on how she quilted this design. Well enough for me to replicate it anyway, first with pen and paper and then with thread. As I got into the rhythm of this design I found I could plan ahead to cover the area better.
I sewed the inner, smaller leaf first and then the bigger, outer leaf. Depending on which side I wanted to end up on would dictate how I started the outer leaf so that I could easily move to a different area with a loop. I recall back in the day that I enjoyed drawing leaves, so this is a really fun design for me to replicate. It makes me feel confident in FMQ it as I’m comfortable drawing it.
To-Do #3
We did not start the Fizzy blocks for our beehive queen again this weekend. I’m off tomorrow (Wednesday) so perhaps work will begin. I know Kathy is patiently waiting for her blocks and I hate to disappoint.
September OMG
For the September OMG (one monthly goal), we will quilt the Rainbow Ripples quilt top. This goal has been shared on Patty’s Elm Street Quilts website and linky party.
To-Do for the week of September 24th through 30th
- Finish the beehive blocks and get them in the mail!
- Sew some QOV blocks and share the block drive info
Here is the linkup and just a few easy rules to follow:
- Share your post or Instagram photo in the linky tool (but don’t share a link to your own linky party or giveaway)

I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well. I hope you are much improved!
Hello Roseanne, Sorry to hear that you suffered with a terrible headache for the length that you did! Glad to know that you are back to your fun and wonderful self again and working towards all of these great quilting goals!! The leaf quilting design is going to be a fabulous design that could be used in many quilts, yet it is also looks like it will be a great learning design that will lead you to many other designs also. You just keep on accomplishing all of your goals!!! Have a great day!!!
Oh man I am so sorry you were under the weather this weekend (literally). I do love that quilting design – you did a wonderful job! I, too, am drawn to leaves and love to doodle them. I may need to copycat you and try that on my next (leaf appropriate) quilt! Hoping you are feeling better and get some things done tomorrow. Enjoy your day off!
Oh Boy! Headaches are no fun and two days in a row! Glad you are better and hope you get some time tomorrow to work on your sewing. I like that leaf quilting pattern. Looking forward to seeing the whole quilt.
I hope your headache has diminished…sometimes all it takes is a trigger such as weather to start a migraine storm.
🙁
While definitely NOT in competition with you (my little PFWHK is very small compared to your lovely Rainbow Ripples Quilt) I did manage to finish with the binding…over the weekend!
Here’s to a headache free week, linky-party-quilter lady!
Roseanne, I’m so sorry you were dealing with a headache all weekend – that’s no fun. Hope you’re better now! Looking forward to seeing our Rainbow Ripples finished! I’m on vacation this week, so no post to link up, but I’ll be back at it next week!
I love that leafy kind of quilting you’ve achieved there, Roseanne. You are really doing so well with this. As usual you are amazingly productive especially since I know you have a day job that is not quilting, :).
Ooooh I am so glad you tried out the leaf design! It really is fun when you get into the groove;) Sorry you had a head ache, I pretty much did too with extra people in my house for 4 days and couldn’t get as much quilting time as I needed/wanted. Back to normal no though and full speed ahead.
Yuk! Hope that headache has been banished and productivity can resume. Good luck on your stuff – I’m one down already for my goals for the week!
Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling “under the weather.” Hope you this week is better. I love your leaf FMQ. It looks great with your pumpkin quilt. Take care, Mary.
Love the leaf quilting design, it does make a good overall design and I think I could accomplish it too. I was just thinking today I need to spend time drawing out designs and build up a supply to choose from.
That’s my plan, too – kind of notebook of quilting designs that I’m comfortable doing. So far I think I have a whole five. HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne
