Tutorial-Quick Triangles Baby Quilt
Sue found this cute baby quilt tutorial and suggested I share it with you. It is called Quick Triangles Baby Quilt. In case you aren’t aware, we’re having a baby in early September – great niece- or nephew-to-be is due then. We are always in the market for a quick and easy baby quilt. This one is both!
Triangles Baby Quilt
Close inspection of the above photo shows the details of the blocks. It is mostly given away by the name of the quilt – triangles. Easy, quick, BIG triangles. The squares start out as 18″ blocks. Handily enough that is the width of a fat quarter, or one-half yard if you prefer.
As Lindsay shares in her instructions, you mark the 18″ squares from corner to corner on the wrong side of the fabric with an “X”. You then sew 1/4″ on each side of those two lines. Finally, you cut the block into eighths like a pie. Three large squares are finished in the same manner and you have enough for this quilt.
She added a 5″ border on each side to make a 45″ x 60″ finished size quilt. If you made the borders slightly thinner you would be able to get away without seaming your backing fabric – just something to consider. I love the cute blue-hued binding she chose to finish off this quilt. Lindsay didn’t mention how she quilted this, but I would think the options are endless depending on your fabric choices.
I often say that we are going to make the tutorial I share, but this time we really are! Really. How about you? Have you made this quilt or something similar? Are you intrigued and will put it on your to-do list? We would love to hear in either case.
