Tutorial – Winter Celebrations Table Runner
I thought it might be nice to share a tutorial today for a table runner. Maybe we can get a jump on the holiday season that is only 11 months away. Of course, once you see how easy this runner is to make, you could easily switch up the colors to your favorite! This photo doesn’t really do it justice as this looks like red and gray, when the pattern says it is red and green:
This tutorial is from Cornbread and Beans Quilting and it is called Winter Celebration. Let’s take a look at the fabric needed:
Table Runner Fabric Requirements:
- 1/2 yard – red fabric
- 1/3 yard – green fabric
- 1/4 yard – cream fabric
It would probably be easy to use your stash and several values of each color palette, rather than purchasing the needed yardage.
The pattern has you make three, nine-patch blocks – two in red/cream and one in green/cream. Add to the ends of each nine-patch is another ‘half’ block to make it look like an “X”. Once the little nine-patches get their sides, top and bottom expanded they only measure 6.5″! The blocks are enhanced with red/green strips and a few red/green nine-patch blocks. I think this finishes off very cutely.
They have a few other free patterns for different table runners on their website, if you would like to check them out as well. Here is a photo of their Fall Table Runner:
I have on my list for 2018 to make new table runners for the holiday. It is about time we updated our decorations! I am going to be on the lookout for and sharing any that catch my eye. Maybe you’ll be interested, too.

Looks like a great one to ass to your wish list! 🙂
Hi Cindy,
I agree! I do want to ‘whip up’ a few table runners throughout the year. ~smile~ Roseanne
