Weekly To-Do #24 – A Recap
This is our 24th edition of our to-do list. Let’s see how we did this past week:
To-Do Tuesday for the week September 18th through 24th:
- Sew block #13 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL – not done!
- Finish quilting the Princess quilt – √ done
- Start quilting Play Ball – started
- Start piecing Garden Gate quilt – started
New for the week is Sunday Dinner, block #13 in the Grandma’s Kitchen quilt-along. It was released on Wednesday, and we did not get it finished this week! How about that?! Sue has been busy with the start of school and she is taking a class so time got away from us this week somehow. We are now more than halfway through this quilt-along. Pat Sloan said that she would be releasing the layout for this quilt in September, and I am looking forward to seeing that. Here is Pat Sloan’s Sunday Dinner block:
We’ll get our block finished next week with block #14!
The white squares have embroidered hearts in pink with deep purple in the bottom thread. I used the same colors in the patterned blocks with a random zig-zag pattern. In the border I did a diamond shape to match the princess fabric on the backing. Here is the finished quilt:
Play Ball has all the white squares quilted by Dr. Auntie Claus Sue. We have a two-part pattern in mind, so I’m up next. I also plan to add Dominic’s name in the border in navy – maybe this will be complete by next week?? Working on the embroidery machine:
Garden Gate has been started, but I’m not really feeling it. It is a simple pattern that we received from the Fat Quarter shop when we purchased this Jolly Bar and white fabric:
The Jolly Bar is basically a rectangle precut. You can see from the peek of the pattern that you sew a rectangle and square together for a block. Several of these blocks make a row and then you alternate for the next row. A quick and easy quilt to come together but it’s just not holding my interested right now. Time to set it aside for a bit, I guess.
EXTRA: And although we didn’t do anything extra this week, here is Dominic laying cutely on a quilt. ~smile~ We spent time with him both Friday night and Saturday! He is listening to his mom talking to him – he now follows her when she walked away (where is she going and WHY is she walking away anyway?!!):
To-Do September 25th through October 1st:
- Sew block #13 and #14 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL
- Sew block #6 in the I Wish You a Merry QAL
- Design the Evening Star baby quilt
- Finish Dominic’s quilt
