Weekly To-Do Update #28 – Miserable Fail
This is our 28th edition of our weekly to-do list. I love checking things off this list but that is not to be this week. I am not used to not meeting goals, even trivial ones . . .
To-Do Tuesday for the week October 16th through 22nd:
- Sew block #17 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL – pity √
- Sew four more Evening Star block (or more) – nope
- Start quilting one animal panel – nope
- Research materials for a Christmas stocking – maybe ?

Block #17 wasn’t released this week! I almost did a happy dance. Pat Sloan released the layout for the quilt instead. We will have to make block #17 next week then. HAHAHA! A break from the blocks and I really can’t count it as a finish but I’m checking it off for the week anyway. Hopefully the to-do list police won’t find out and arrest me. ~smile~

~Sigh~ We ran out of the blue fabric for this project around the 15th of the month. Did we want to drive back up to Oshkosh to get more? No. Did we know the exact name/color of the fabric? No. Does any LQS near us carry this fabric? No. I ordered ‘Marine Blue’ Burlap from MSQC on the 16th with fingers crossed and bated breath. Will it EVER get here and is it the correct color?! No, it is not. We looked at quilt shops in Indiana and the Chicagoland area. No go. Sue sent a text to the Oshkosh shop and they will mail us the fabric! Yippee! The whole project isn’t a wash . . . just delayed. Oh, and three new stars were made before all the fabric was gone.

Well, one animal panels quilt top is layered and pinned. You would think I would have this quilted and the binding on, but no. I have almost lost interest . . . except that I haven’t. HAHA – take that Evening Star. You haven’t wrecked my mojo after all. But alas this cannot be checked off either as not one stitch was made.

Research for the Christmas stocking. We carried the stocking all around to quilt shops in Indiana and Illinois on Saturday to no avail. No fabrics really matched the green or the red, nor could we find any pre-made ones. Geez! However, Sue found a store online that sells the pre-made stockings. So rather than sewing one, I ordered one. Don’t tell Dominic – we still have to cross stitch his name and a design just for him.
Extra:
We received a special order request from our Etsy shop. It has to be complete in 10 days or sooner, so that is moving up the list. Someone did visit the pumpkin farm at seven weeks old and he LOVED it, Mr. Nosy:
October OMG Goal:
- Evening Star is not half done yet. Yikes only one full week to go – who knows if it will be complete or not?! IF I were a betting woman, I would put BIG money on no. ~smile~
To-Do October 23rd through 29th:
- Sew block #17 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL
- Special order quilt

I can understand cheering for having a bit of a break with a block this week! As far as running out of fabric…UGH!! So glad that the shop in Oshkosh will mail you some…what a relief! Dominic looks so cute in his halloween outfit. Just love it! Thank you for linking up with To-Do Tuesday, I always look forward to seeing your progress!
Hi Christine! Well, aren’t you sweet?!! I absolutely LOVE to-do Tuesday! It’s one of my favorite days of the week and the list is so motivating. Not only to get things done, but for planning and setting goals for the week ahead. I love it and I thank you for hosting the link up. I need to get more of my blogger friends doing it too. ~smile~ Roseanne
I know that running out of fabric feeling. But there is the happy dance when you find a replacement and can get back to working on the quilt! I’m betting ‘no’ on my OMG too for October. But hope the rest of your sewing and new quilt order goes well!
Hi Sharon,
I was so surprised that none of the LQS near home carried the fabric! It is so cute, and has so many different colors. But I was thrilled that the original shop would mail it to us. That made my day! I’m sorry you’re not finishing your OMG either. Thankfully there is another month to give it a try and finish it. ~smile~ Roseanne
Yikes…running out of fabric….but then being able to order more…a great feeling! I am always amazed at all your weekly goals!! Good luck on getting your special order done!
Hi Caryl,
Well, aren’t you the sweetest?! I don’t have it yet . . . but it should be here by the end of the week with any luck. Besides, I don’t have time to wrap that project up now anyway. Thanks for the encouragement on the special order! I have started quilting it. ~smile~ Roseanne
You will get it all accomplished, just enjoy the process.
Hi Chris,
I’m trying to forget about it – I’m not used to failing. HAHA ~smile~ Roseanne
Lots of fun things going on! Best of luck getting the blue fabric you need!
Hi Connie,
Thank you so much for the encouragement! I think they are mailing the fabric so we don’t have to drive back. I appreciate your visit to the website and comment so much. ~smile~ Roseanne
Persevere and you will get it done;) I am glad you were able to get the right fabric ordered. So now you have extra fabric to make something else(the MSQC fabric)! Congrats on an Etsy order! What do you have to make?
Hi Vicki! Thanks for the encouragement. I know – extra fabric . . . ooh-la-la. Two yards . . . what should we do with that?! Hmm?! We have to make another princess quilt. I got the quilt top together last night, so I’ll start on the embroidery hearts tonight. Plenty of time, right?! Eek. ~smile~ Roseanne
Sometimes weeks like this happen. What a worry with that blue fabric – good that you finally tracked some more down. Yes interesting layout for GK. And… I have decided I’m going to do my own when all the blocks have been completed. I was happy not to have one to do this week!
Hi Kathryn! I know – a break from the GK block was a real treat, wasn’t it. No pressure about that for one week. HAHA And to think we signed up for this. ~smile~ Roseanne
